The first steps of implementation stress on creating a 3-D model of the inner cities of Rothenburg and Davos. In Davos the modelling of the selected parts of the countryside will also stand in the foreground. These modelling tasks will have priority to all other tasks that are to be done in the progress of the project. The reason is that the modelling of the inner cities is the foundation where all other applications have to be built on. The possibility of visiting a famous destination in the WEB will arouse the interest of the tourist for the special destination. Creating a model of the whole cities would be too expensive and take too long, so for the first implementation, special parts of the cities have to be chosen for modelling. Once a solid model of parts of the cities is built, the modelling of the hotels will be the next step. Here there is also the problem that the model of a whole hotel would take too much time and be too expensive. So a list has been created, where the unique selling point of the hotels were listed. These unique selling points will be modelled first. In the trial-phase one objective is to present most of the points above in the 3-D model of the city. In addition it shall be possible to book the visited rooms in the hotel online. The technology for that option is available on the market but a user-friendly application, which allows a direct interaction such as a direct request, is hard to find. One aim of VDA must be to offer a user-friendly solution in all participating hotels. This creates a high quality-standard and makes VDA a homogenous system. Therefor a technology-provider for the booking software is needed. He has to integrate his software-application into the existing 3-D model of the hotel. So at the end of the trial, the prospective end-customer - in this case a prospective tourist - shall have the following options: 1. Visiting the homepage of the cities and getting linked to the "virtual city round trip" (VHCT). 2. Discovering the chosen city and getting a feeling of the flair of the special destination. 3. Getting access to the participating hotels by a link to the homepage of the chosen hotel. 4. Automatically getting linked from the homepage to the "virtual hotel communicator" (VHC). 5. Discovering the hotel with most of its rooms and becoming aware of the special features. 6. Being able to book the virtually visited rooms online.
These possibilities only show the beginning of the idea of VDA. But it will take at least one year to offer these features. After the first version is implemented successfully, a market analysis will show if the project is successful enough to be continued.
