The VOSTER consortium brings together fourteen European organizations representing eight different countries. These organizations are active participants in researches related to Virtual Organization and are among the leaders in this domain, providing a significant basis for the proposed harmonization process. Coupled with this strong research background they also have an extensive network of industrial contacts.The scientific and technological objectives of VOSTER are to:

• Consolidate VO related concepts and their relationships, VO types, characteristics and indicators
• Identify and recommend useful approaches for VO modelling;
• Identify relevant technologies and standards and assess their potential for VOs
• Define functions of VO infrastructures and suggest ways to implement them
• Promote VO approaches in European industries
