CE-NET II project is a European Commission supported research project within the framework of the EU’s Information Society Programme.The primary aim of CE-NET is to establish and further develop a support infrastructure throughout Europe.The existing and expanding network will aid in sharing and exchanging the latest developments in the Concurrent Enterprise domain.Activities such as conferences and newsletters will further assist the network expansion.

One of the driving forces of the project is the increased demand to improve efficiency in product design and development within the broad context of Concurrent Enterprising.In-line with the primary aim of the project, the following sub-goals are also achieved:

1)To promote the concept of Concurrent Enterprising as the implementation of Concurrent Engineering in the Extended Enterprise to a world wide constituency.

2)To initiate the analysis of current trends and to provide a strategic vision on CE in Europe (long term focus.

3)To act as a catalyst for implementation of CE by European industry.

4)To collect, categorise and present knowledge on CE to a wide industrial and academic community.

5)To provide a forum for developing focused initiatives in the CE domain such as special interest groups or groups for international collaboration, for industry and academia
